Bessie Llewellyn Meredith

Died: 26 June 1983 in Yakima, Washington

 

Bessie was born in Chester, Iowa in 1890. The fifth of 13 siblings, she moved with her parents, Carroll Henry and Delilah (Slasor) Meredith, to Washington State in 1908. She married McKinney Dow Lambert on 24 June 1910 in Victoria, BC. Dow died in 1932. On 09 April 1944 Bessie married Howard Charles Swain in Yakima. Howard died in 1962. Bessie was a member of the Englewood Christian Church, the Pythian Sisters for 68 years, the Rebekah Lodge, and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Howard was a tailor, and worked at Chicago Clothing in Yakima, before he and Bessie moved to Seattle.
